When and how did you realize that you wanted to study Genetics & Genomics?
During my undergraduate research, I realized that genetics and genomics offer powerful tools to answer many fundamental biological questions. At the same time, I became increasingly curious about alternative approaches that could be used to explore biological systems, which led me to appreciate the broad utility and potential of this field.
Why did you choose the Genetics & Genomics Ph.D. program at A&M?
This is an interdisciplinary program with a wide range of research areas that align with my interests. Having the opportunity to explore and rotate through different labs will help me refine my research focus. I’m also particularly drawn to several faculty members whose work I find inspiring. Additionally, I was impressed by the collaborative and supportive environment among current students—it made me feel like this was a community I wanted to be part of.
If you were free to choose anything, what research question/topic would you like to address for your graduate studies?
I would love to become a bioinformatics engineer and develop widely applicable tools that can help scientists analyze large-scale genomic data more efficiently and accurately.
