When and how did you realize that you wanted to study Genetics & Genomics?

Junior year in Undergrad. I took bioinformatics and population genetics. I fell in love with the questions asked and the modern tools to answer them. I enjoy using the computer and evolutionary genetics. Felt like the perfect marriage for me!

Why did you choose the Genetics & Genomics Ph.D. program at A&M?

If you were free to choose anything, what research question/topic would you like to address for your graduate studies?

I really like convergent evolution of traits. I think its so cool how different lineages can develop similar phenotypes due to similar environments.
I also want to master genome assemblies and analyze them!

Fun Facts:

• Do you have any hidden talents? If so, what are they.

I’ve played the guitar since 6th grade, i prefer playing folk music like Nick Drake and Leonard Cohen. I also train muay thai. Its really fun and helps blow off steam.

• Do you have any pets? If so, please tell us about them.

I have two dogs! Lola and Sky. they are both poodles. Lola is 16 years old and has been with me since i was a child. Sky is 6 and she loves playing fetch and very easily gets the zoomies.
