When and how did you realize that you wanted to study Genetics?

Since high school, my favorite topic of biology was genetics, and at university, my favorite topic of microbiology, and even microbial physiology was also genetics, so I decided to go down that path.

Why did you choose the Genetics PhD program at A&M?

It was a mixture of many ingredients. The research environment is awesome, and all the people were so nice that I could not decline the offer.

If you were free to choose anything, what research question/topic would you like to address for your graduate studies?

I would like to isolate uncultured microorganisms (specially from soil), study their biological, physical, and chemical properties, engineer them, and link that to medicine.

Fun Facts:

What would be your dream job after graduation from the program?

My dream job would be running my own research lab with groundbreaking publications.

Do you have any pets? If so, please tell us about them.

I used to have a little pig, but he died from a heart attack (or at least the veterinarian said that). Below is the first picture I have of my little pig, with the description “I am in love with my son”.
