“My project focuses on the dynamics of the NF-κB pathway in glioblastoma. My focus is on the principal kinase of the pathway, NF-κB-inducing kinase (NIK), and its characterization at the mitochondria. I am investigating potential interactions NIK may have with novel proteins that regulate oxidative metabolism.”

Why did you choose the Genetics PhD program at A&M?
The program coordinator had visited with the lab I was working in for my masters degree and explained the many benefits that the university offered. I was impressed with the quality and variety of research being done. I also liked that there was a large number of faculty to choose from that other universities didn’t offer.
What is at least one big lesson you have learned in the Genetics graduate program that you think is widely applicable to your future pursuits?
I have learned that help is there when you need it. Don’t be afraid to reach out to the administrators, faculty, and your fellow students.
