The Texas A&M University Genetics Graduate Program is proud to host its 2012 winter research competition.  We encourage all current Genetics graduate students to participate.  The competition will consist of a poster session.  All competitors must submit a poster title. Posters will be judged both on presentation and content.  
 
Poster Subject: Any basic or applied research in the area of genetics or a related field. The poster should be original work done by the contestant.
 
Eligibility: Contestants must be M.S. or Ph.D. students in the Genetics Graduate Program working for a member of the Faculty of Genetics at Texas A&M University. Only one poster may be submitted per person.  Contestants cannot present a poster that has previously won an award in the Genetics Graduate Research Competition, but a student can enter in the competition again even if he or she previously presented and/or received an award.

Awards: $300, 1st place; $250, 2nd place; $200. 3rd place; $100, 4th place
 
       
Entry Deadline:  All entries must be submitted by Friday, February 3, 2012

Abstracts:  Please email your poster title to: Julia Williams at genesec@tamu.edu.
 

Poster Presentation Evaluation:  
Poster presentations will be evaluated by a panel of judges and will be held at 3p.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012.  The presentations will be judged both on presentation and content. The presenter should be able to explain their poster at a level easily understood by a general scientific audience.

2011 Poster Winners: 1st place, Eric Strickland, 2nd place Mahesh Padanad, 3rd place Hao Ching Hsaio, and 4th place Dmitry Lyalin.

Other Awards: Two teaching awards will also be given at the competition to our first-year Genetics graduate students who are teaching in the GENE 301/302 labs.
 
Please submit abstract form by Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.
