Biography:
Research Focus:
Research in my lab focuses on two main aspects of evolutionary biology:
- The evolution of host-symbiont associations using the association between Drosophila flies andSpiroplasma bacteria. My interests span from comparative genomics of bacteria with different fitness effects on the host, functional genomics of both host and symbiont, and the evolutionary forces that maintain this association.
- Phylogeography of freshwater organisms. So far I have focused on freshwater fishes (family Poeciliidae) in Mexico but plan to expand to other organisms and regions
