Dr. James Cai applies population genetics theory to genomic data in order to identify the signatures of natural selection and to elucidate the causal genotypes underlying genetic disorders and complex traits. He develops computational tools and statistical tests to investigate evolutionary processes shaping genomic variability within and between species.
